Questions on transferring domain names

I've never transferred a domain name from registrar to another (in this case 2 transfers to JodoHost). Once I fill in the transfer information and make a payment, both of which I've done, is it a transparent process between JodoHost and the old registrar, or is there some action I need to take to make sure my domains continue working?

Also, one is a redirect (if that is the correct term) to the other domain name. What, if anything, do I do to ensure that domain name continues to redirect users to the other domain?

Just go to Domain Settings - Domain Info, click Add behind Domain aliases, type in the alternate name, and tell it to create a DNS zone. This is not a redirect though, the URL in the address bar will continue to use the alternate domain name.

You can set up a redirect instead if you like, by adding the alternate domain as a separate page and setting up a URL redirect. Alternative you can use the first method but use some scripting to insure people are redirected to the primary domain name.

As far as the registrar side goes, I have moved several domain names between several registrars and it has always been totally seamless. There was never any resolution problems or downtime as a result.
