subdomains versus domain aliases

I think subdomains are www.subdomain.realdomain.com . Is this correct?
## Yes, this is correct. They generally represent a different section or a different department on a Website.

I think domain aliases are www.domainalias.com that really points to www.mydomain.com/domainalias/ and it looks and acts just like its own website, not a subfolder on the other site, and doesn't redirect. Is this correct?
## This is not correct. Domain alias are just another name of your main domain. and www.mydomain.com will point to same folder. Thus, any change done to www.mydomain.com,will show in www.domainalias.com as well.

Thank you for your response.

Is it possible with JodoHost to have a URL point to a subfolder on a different URL (for example mynewurl.com really points to myjodohostaccount.com/subfolder/), so it looks like a unique URL with no redirects? If so, what is this called?
