Suddenly my "total traffic" has really increased, to where I am nearly at my 5gb limit just over halfway through the month. And it is almost all HTTP traffic. I notice in AWStats that my avg kb/visit has nearly doubled from 85.16 kb/visit last month, to 159.25 kb/visit this month. I'm not saying this isn't accurate, I just want to understand what could cause such a big difference, as the other stats seem comparable - pages per visit, which pages were visited, time onsite, etc. And I haven't added any new bandwidth-hogging content (videos, flash, etc.).
Does the visitors connection, location, where they come from (Google, another website, direct browser entry), etc. have much to do with bandwidth used? I would like to know how to gauge my total traffic needs so I can bump up my limit, if needed, as my site's traffic increases.
