Discussion on Jodohost moving ahead - Resellers

Just as a FYI, 2003 servers will move to 2003 instances as well, we will NOT be forcibly upgrading all to 2008 server. There are a number of apps that are simply not compatible as we have seen so far.

Custom Nameservers

I think I know the answer, but thought it wise to clarify. Will nameserver IP's also be changing (according to your IP lookup tool they will) for those of us using custom nameservers? I'm guessing those will also be overlapping for several days so we can register those new IP's with our registrar and allow them to propagate.

Nameservers will NOT be changing this weekend.

yes we will be doing forwarding to the new IPs from the old as well, so even when we do them, afterwards it will forward the IPs to the new for a period of time (week or so at least)

The email explicitly said there will be only web and DB move, and no NS/mail move.
I'll have the migration list updated soon to ensure all know what is exactly being moved.

sorry, I should have been more clear. I'm aware that NS is not happening this weekend, but I was asking proactively in order to plan.

Thanks!

Yes, the IP map is correct and those WILL be the IPs we have set aside for you in that case :)

but don't do the switch on them just yet :D

Hope this isn't a silly question
It's just the glue records that way need to update and not the customers nameserver records? I figure the new nameserver record Ip's should just propogate down to any customers nameserver records that are using our reseller nameservers for their domains, is that correct

Exactly correct, only your name to IP record needs editing, and it goes to client auto :)

We have preparations done, however the IP migration is getting delayed due to some unavoidable circumstances. We are trying to get to it as soon as possible.

Migration BLues

Can you tell us exactly what this migration is about?

Are we migrating to new faster servers?

Pls provide details.

And pls update the status page......, when you get a chance to breathe.....lol........z

Yes, all IPs will change.
Keep an eye on server migration status page to know about the change ahead of it. We will also send out a mailer when tentative dates are decided upon.

Status page is not up todate........also exactly how do we 'change IP's'?

IPs are up to date, we are not posting IPs before they are live on destination or about to be, because people will change it and it will be down.

Sure I moved your thread to this topic as it is about exactly this, and opportunity to ask questions.

what is it about?

It is multi faceted reasons but majority are this:
1. Especially on cluster1 there is some aging hardware we'd be looking at migrations soon anyway, either on our time or failure required in emergency cases.
2. We wanted to move to an environment where we have more control and authority, own IP allocations.
3. Have a staffed office that will grow into full function and added services offered from it, nearby to datacenter.
4. Room to grow and a place to build a solid base for expanding out business offerings long into the future, even beyond the hosting here.
5. Upgrade the offerings to clients.

Our group is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in Waco, to completely upgrade our existing infrastructure. Once complete, we will be able to offer our customers quality services that will match if not better with top players in the industry.

Personally I'm very happy with the move, being in Australia, all my clients have seen a significant increase in HTTP download speed and even a slight decrease in ping time. Money well spent in my opinion. :)

jodohost.com is running from Waco for about a month now :)

Any forecast on when my domain/site will transfer to Waco?

Right now mySql database is in Waco, and my Website is in Fla.......

This is causing significant delays in processing.......SO, when will this occur?

DDAmanda.com ..........Thx, z
