    upsizing from Access

Did you check to see if there is a tool they provide to upgrade. In Access there is a toold to upsize but there are some slight differences and it might be better to use a tool that is provided by the vendor of the application so that you have less work to do. Just a thought.

    New forum suggestion

Sounds like a good idea to me. Most people might not understand the complexities but that is even more reason to try to share and learn from each other.

    Access query going haywire...

I just found something interesting. I imported the exact same table (2000 records) into a sql server database and my cpu only jumped to 16% so as you are suggesting riley, it IS the handling of query rather than the retrieval. I also changed the access method to getrows which sped up the...

    Jodohost: Update Forum URL

I'm getting tired of keeping track of all the small things that need to be fixed. It seems that as long as email and the web server is working, everything else is not important and are being ignored that is why I keep posting every once and a while to keep up to date on this although sometimes...

    Access query going haywire...

I think I have done that because I was playing with the database and deleting data but maybe not since I have been running these tests. I will try again and run my test again. Thanks for the suggestion.

thank you for the update, that is all I was asking for. I really hope these things are completed within the next day because we have been waiting a long time for all of them.

    Access query going haywire...

I am testing this on my home server so this is not shared hosting, this is less than a 2 MB database. This database is working perfectly fine in a shared environment although I am not using this particular query from any of those web pages. I am actually using many more complex queries (with...

    Jodohost: Update Forum URL

You are not the only one and this is getting very annoying having to change the url in the address bar each time.

    Access query going haywire...

Oh and just to add...when I am using the same script but only returning about 100 records it seems to be fine. Someone suggested if I am sorting that might be a cause for extra processing power but there isn't any sorting...just a simple select.

    Access query going haywire...

Thanks riley, I've tried a variety of techniques. I changed the buffering, change the items in the query to make it return less records etc but nothing seems to make a difference. I do expecta difference in speed between the access application and asp page but I don't expect it to cause...

    Access query going haywire...

I have an access query which pulls data from one table from an asp page. There are about 2200 records in this table. When that page executes on my local server, the cpu usage shoots up to 100% for the few seconds it needs to run. When I run the EXACT same sql statement through the access...

    Win1 is very slow

I had that problem in the past (with dns that is) but that was when the second name server crashed so it was an isolated incident but I wouldn't doubt that the site with the reverse name servers would have been the cause/problem. Unfortunately I don't think there is a way to fix the name server...

Yash, thanks for the update...what about the other items I asked about. Are you ignoring those?

Yash, would you update us on the following items please

Please don't ignore that I was asking the differences between an Release Candidate and Final Release. I was also not suggesting it be done tommorrow. I was also asking when in the future it would be done since many of us have been desperately waiting for this to happen for months and Yash said...

Yash, would you update us on the following items please

There are a few things that we are still waiting for and although I understand the delays because of the win5 issue(s), it would be nice to know that these things are not being ignored. 1) web sql admin - Last time I checked there was an issue with a component. I just tried to login and it...

    Redundant Servers

What the hell is that supposed to mean?? I just ask for things that are advertised and what we are all paying for. If it is too difficult for things to work, then don't offer or advertise the service. Maybe you are happy when things are not working correctly but I am not.

    Redundant Servers

I totally agree with this...we should never expect 100%...it is very unlikely to happen even in a properly run system. I would focus more on how to recover from problems. That is something I have been happy with more than any other host. Jodohost has been able (for the most part) to recover...
