are you not able to ping it or authentication error?
I cannot access it either. I can ping the address (63.209.158.6) but I get no page back when I attempt to access it with a web browser.
You cannot access it via webmail
But is POP3/SMTP via your mail server working?
Same here. I can ping 63.209.158.6 but cann’t access it using web browser like mail.domainname.com
Thanks
webmail is down
But can you access it via email client?
THat’s what I am most concerned about right now
Add me to the list. I have a shared account with 6 domains and a reseller account with 4 domains. I cannot reach any of their emails through the browser (mail.domain.com), but I can ping the mail server.
I don’t get any errors from Thunderbird, my mail client, but I don’t get any emails either. Several of my clients, as well as my business partner, are quite pissed off that they cannot access their email via the web, as they are away from their offices.
My mail server IP address is the same as atarcs has listed. I can ping it and telnet to port 110 and issue PoP3 commands. The web interface is not working, and is what I need to check it from work.
Oh yeah, I’ve sent in tickets as well, both as a reseller and as a shared customer.
I assume you are rebooting, because now I can not ping/telnet to it, either.
Ok, I didnt realise webmail was causing so much frustration.. Fixing that, hold on..
There is no issue with email clients or incoming email accept for the 2 hour delay
Infact, we have come up with a temp solution to the delay while we work out a hardware upgrade.
Everything should be back to normal shorlty
Id like to stress no email was lost.. We took particular care of that
I know this whole incident has made us look like an idiot but it was planned and it did go smoothly. It just seems the hardware we are on has some issue that caused CPU load issues forcing us to disable httpd (which is webmail) and also removing spam and antivirus checking. Also caused the mail delay
We did to a test migration. Unfortunately. we could never replicate the scale of this
We’ve put up a temporary solution to the delayed incoming mail issue
The 5000 odd emails in the local mail queue (which were received and had to be delivered to mailboxes) have been removed but will be put back in queue in about 60 minutes from now
Yash, I have now just recieved 23 emails that I should have got this morning. Ok, it is great that I haven’t lost them, but I will have to wait until tomorrow at the office to answer them!
To be honest if my web site is down, it is bad and I loose business, but my email is critical. ![]()
Nathan
We took particular care to ensure mail was not lost
I know its much more critical. This move was planned to prevent problems…
Anyway, now with the mail server move, we should have alot of stability with email since HSphere can no longer interfere with it on CP server

this is good.
but the move should have been done over the weekend - not the end of the week ![]()
Good point Snooper. Our office is closed at weekends and web and mail traffic much reduced. Yash, in future could you plan any upgrades/servicing at the weekends?
Thanks
Nathan
Ok. We pretty much treat all 7 days a week as working because some people get alot of business during the weekends
Point noted. I’m closing this thread now before it doubles in size. Please do email me with any questions/concerns
I am making a mass-mail explaining the issue.
