I see absolutely no issue here, no where close to the packetloss schooner is reporting. the 7.7% packet loss you are getting inbetween MUST be very sporadic, and will not affect speeds at all. Packet loss is being reproted at your ISP and then at the savis backbone in the US. This is not an issue at all, and has nothing to do with our network

I am doing my traceroute testing from here - traceroute.org

I am not picking up any issues.

Doing a single ping isn’t going to show little I suspect, you need to continously monitor the route.

Try:
http://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~llynch/cgi-bin/uo/trace.cgi?sedmha.com

I have yet to see it be sucessful in the 3 pings on node 19, webhosting-9.border5.mia003.pnap.net

The trace goes fast till it hits that node.

webhosting-9.border5.mia003.pnap.net is the last node and its our router.. You will not be able to trace beyond that. So this is totally normal

Its not beyond that that worries me, I can’t even get 3 sucessful pings to that point, notice how at least one always times out? All other nodes to that point produce 2 sucessful pings.

I guess mypoint is if this is how things are going to work then I need to start lookign for another host, as there are certainly issues anf not just from my ISP. I and others have noted this and the link above seems to show issues with the same node.

Where are you getting the timeout? Between node 18 and node 19? That is from within our network and there is absolutely no packet loss taking place from that point. If there was a timeout taking place at that point, half our network would be down right now.
Apart from that the entire traceroute appears fine to me. I cannot see that node 18 to node 19 timeout on any other traceroute

Here is proof: http://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~llynch/cgi-bin/uo/trace.cgi?jodohost.com As you can see there is no timeout happening anywhere at all. DO traceroutes from any network from traceroute.org. I have been constantly testing since you reported

I am pretty sure the server your domain is on is blocking the trace. We have firewalls up on some of the windows servers

Hi Folks,

The results I am seeing at least right now are good (as far as I can tell since I am far from an expert on this)

Here’s a couple:

Ok thanks nevermind. I’ll have to come up with another solution. You are saying you see no packet loss on any trace I have posted on that node, nor on the link above? I guess it is jsut me then. Fact is the sites have been slow and that is a fact. if it cannot be fixed then the hosting will not suit our needs. As stated I and others have reported issues as have our clients. This morning there was a problem on that node that went undetected until I reported it via live chat, and even then it was not seen until I pointed out the node in question.

Sorry for being frustrated but it seem to me that Jodohost wants to pretend no issue exists here.

Yash, then why is it when i do:
http://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~llynch/cgi-bin/uo/trace.cgi?sedmha.com

That node 19 never gives 3 sucessful pings? It does for Jodohost but not for ours?

schooner, the only issue with packetloss I see in yourcase is between your ISP and some intermediate ISP before you are routed to InterNap.. We have passed this problem on to InterNap, and I have done so again today. For some reason, you are the only customer that has experienced this problem. I strongly suggest you contact your ISP or give me their contact details and I’ll do it for you

Yash, it is not my ISP. It may be one outside of either one of us but i most certainly am seeing packet loss on webhosting-9.border5.mia003.pnap.net as I have posted. Is that not your node?

the server you are on is most likely blocking the traces. I’ll need to check this out. Please see InTheMarket’s trace, its perfect. The trace is ending at webhosting-9, from where it goes to your server and is being blocked. There is no packet loss from the routers

It is our node, but you are not understanding. That is not the source of any packet loss. I am monitoring your site from my connection right now in India using pingplotter. I am getting a perfect traace

Ok thanks Yash, I guess all we can do is base the hosting on the operformance and go from there. We may jsut need another host that is stable from our ISP as it seems to showup mostly with Jodohost for soem reason.

Here is the latests test.

Is webhosting-9.border5.mia003.pnap.net a Jodohost node?
Do you see that there is loss at this node?

schooner, I have done my LEVEL best to resolve your routing issues since you first reported it, talking to the network techs, passing on your traceroutes, everything.

I have done so again. However if you could send one email to your ISP, I would greatly appreciate it.

I will send the above trace to my ISP as wel to see if they can find any issues, but from what I see this is not inside their network.

schooner, contact your ISP just ONCE. They would be able to resolve this issue fairly quickly. You are getting packet loss from every single node. It seems to me your ISP connection is thoroughly messed up somehow.

Give me 24 hours on your issue. Please also ensure that image stays online. I am going to do everything I can from my side to find out what’s wrong

I just sent them am email and I will leave the images up. Out ISP ends at the second node. And yes I know there is loss at all nodes but the second last one seems to be a big issue.

Sorry for being frustrated, but the day started with our sites not even being accessible which was a Jodohost issue and we are jsut trying to figure out what is wrong and how stable things will be.

I appreciate all your help.

Just and FYI, the issue is not jsut from my node, others on the same ISP in other parts of the city have reported the same issues and we have had others from other regions and ISP also report slow performance.
