Multiple notices from subscribed forums

I have noticed that I frequently get multiple messages from forums I have subscribed to. At first I thought it was a problem with my email client as the headers appeared to be identical. However, on very close examination, I have found they are not identical.

Notice that in the 3rd line message 1 has qmail [COLOR=“#0000FF”]7494 whereas message 2 has qmail [COLOR=“#0000FF”]7495. The messages-ID: is identical in both messages, but I guess that the differences in the 3rd line of the header is sufficient for my email client to identify the messages as being different. In all cases where I get duplicate messages, the only difference between them is that number in the 3rd line

I notice also these messages also have 2 Date:lines, each a second apart. I’m not sure if this is valid.

ok so now someone is seeing this, I can’t find it sending two in the logs of the forums mail server…this is odd.

For the time being, I have set my email client to not delete the messages off the server, so both are still there if you want to examine them.

very odd, wondering if it is subscription settings or something more.

reading vb forums there have been bugs at several points in the past for multi emails, I will work on upgrading the forums in the next 48 hours if at all possible.

I’m not subscribed to this forum, so I only get duplicate emails for threads I post to.

I am subscribed to the following forums and I get duplicate update notices:

I have not yet had a moment to work on the upgrade either :frowning:

It has been one thing after another, and I just haven’t found the required time yet. I don’t see it coming today either by my current schedule.

I have made several post about this same issue flooding my inbox with mails, but every time they don’t do anything about it because they said I was the only person with this problem. There is not one else. Now I know that’s not true. I’m NOT the only person getting this issue.

Check that it’s the same problem: Message IDs identical, but the third line of the headers Received: (qmail xxxxx invoked by uid 399) is different. If that’s the case, then it’s the same problem. Otherwise, you have a different problem.

Duplicate messages don’t seem to be related to subscriptions. I’ve removed all subscriptions, but I got 2 copies of Reply to thread ‘Multiple notices from subscribed forums’ advising of Kensino’s posting. Again both messages identical except for [COLOR=“#0000FF”]qmail 16815 and [COLOR=“#0000FF”]qmail 16806.

I’m still planning to upgrade, but haven’t had a moment yet. I will actually have to take the forums offline 15-20 minutes to do so as well.

I needed another hand a few days ago. I borrowed a set :smiley:

Too bad I can’t keep it borrowed long term.

I sleep some, actually this week I am on a working ‘vacation’ visiting San Francisco/San Jose, CA and some friends here.

I have been putting in almost a full days work between trips out and sleep however. It is by choice, I love my job, and love helping clients. I just have to put things in priority, and getting upgrades on the forum is a bit lower than some other issues that have come up.

Going to try to do this over the weekend, there is one critical piece of info required for working on vB updates, and it is in my email archives, and that PC is not responding to my remote access at home, so I can’t get to my old old mails right now (i have about 2 years here, but vB is older than that)
