Seems they’re blocking all mail from this IP because of the number of time AOL members have clicked ‘this is spam’ for mail that originates here.
Has anyone at J*Host followed this procedure to see what spam is being sent out to AOL users?

It seems like you can only apply to have an IP added to their whitelist, not a domain name, so there’s nothing I can do about it.
Quite honestly, if my clients’ websites can’t send to AOL customers, I’ll have to move them elsewhere or lose their business. AOL might be a bunch of useless toe-rags at times but they’ve got too many users for me to ignore the problem. My clients can’t operate a website or a business if they can’t send a significant proportion of their customers mail.
Adding authentication or whatever to the mail makes no difference, because they just don’t care about that. Spammers can authenticate mail just as easily as I can.

What mail server is this from.
Could be because the rDNS record may not have been configured properly for that particular IP.. I am only guessing

If you are sending email out from a webserver, this problem is already documented..
You must send the email out from the mail servers because the mailservers have rDNS records

These are properly authenticated CDOSYS mails going through the mail servers, and I’ve only started getting them back today.
It’s a ‘too much spam from this IP address’ problem, according to the link that’s in the failure message.

THat cannot be, we haven’t had any new spammers since the incident with mail4.
We are investigating… Can you please tell me which mail server this is from?

I use mail.userdomain.com to send the mail. Hsphere mail relay says mail2.reseller.net->mail.reseller.net
(I assume this means mail.mysphere.biz is the actual sender?)

I believe I am experiencing the same or at least a related issue with Bellsouth blocking emails:
My Situation: I’ve configured my client’s website email address to be forwarded to their bellsouth email address. Those forwarded emails fail to reach their bellsouth inbox. The emails are not bounced back to the sender as they do arrive in my client’s Horde acct.
Partial Solution: Bellsouth’s webmail client has the capability to check other POP3 accts. So I setup a POP3 acct so bellsouth webmail would pull in emails from my client’s mail.metalspecial***.com pop3 acct. It works but there is a catch…my client must login to the bellsouth webmail acct and click the “Get POP Mail” button each time. Have not found a way for bellsouth webmail to automatically check the POP3 acct. On the bellsouth help page ( http://help.bellsouth.net/bellsouth/asp/contentview.asp?sprt_cid=316c5c02-4195-45e5-b8ec-b88461201f59 ) there is a statement “Log in to Web Mail and use an automatic polling process” which implies that this could be automated, but I’ve found no such setting.
Has anyone found a better work around for getting forwarded emails to arrive in a bellsouth inbox?

Test mails that I have sent this morning using mail and mail3 have had no problems, mail4 test emails however don’t seem to be getting through. I’ll wait and see if the mail4 test emails are just delayed, timeout and bounce or get blocked with no error message.

Update: The test emails sent to a bellsouth.net address via mail4 were delivered, however, delayed approx. 30 minutes.

Yash, we are getting these errors from Outlook i beleive.
Mail server? its using mail.domain.com

Talked to AOL Postmaster department and signed up for whitelist. As per them the request can be processed in 2 hours or can take upto 48 hours. BTW, i have received a mail from mail1 to my netscape.net account (that is again AOL network).

I just received an email from postmaster at BellSouth stating that what are now the old IP’s used for the mail servers would be unblocked 30-MAR-06.

Very useful… good to know they’re on the ball. Maybe all their customers can take a nice vacation somewhere in the meantime.
Without buying a actual server, is it possible to get my own IPs for sending mail? Ones that would appear in the headers, I mean, so that that IP would only be identified with mail from my own accounts and websites? Would this be stupidly expensive? Would it cause other problems that aren’t obvious?
