AndyG, i tested and it worked fine for me even when i’ve not whitelisted my sender email.
Personally, best way to fight spam is to take it on a client level with some third party tool attached to your Outlook etc. or simply use Thunderbird. I am using Spamatack with my Outlook at the moment, also used K9, POPFile and many others. They all do terrific job after initial training.
Heya. I was a white hat on the other side of this for a number of years, so I’m pretty familiar with how things work. I’m interested that there’s no learning system - though you say you use Postini? Is there a uce box at Postini that we can forward to that will affect this? The spam I’m getting is nearly semantically identical every day and I’m sure a Bayesian filter would learn to pick it up pretty easily.
My clients all report a major decrease of incoming spam!

Spam on Mail3 is not much better. I just now got hit about 20 times all at once all spam. Why can’t these Subjects be blocked these spammers are using, most are all alike???
2-3 times a day I get hit between 10-20 Spam E-mails all at once.

Yup. Same here. For some reason, most of the day yesterday was spam free, then in the last 24 hours, I recieved no fewer than 78 SPAM mails. Sigh… :ohwell:

That’s a bit rich for my blood; at my current hosting level, we’re talking $2600.00 per year, minimum; I’d rather deal spend a bit of time working with clients on the issue than lay out that kind of money.

Actually, the method is remarkably similar to the bayesian filter used by SpamBayes, a free, client-level product:
Yeah, I like it too. I’ve been using it three or four years now.
Why not have a serverside black/white list that will automatically add addresses to outgoing email addresses and ask any unknown addresses to click a link to confrim they are a person.
I know my previous host had this feature and I must say even when they didn’t have that feature the Spam was much less than it was before I moved here.
Please look into some serverside whitelisting options.
I see a big increase in the drops of spam on mail3 this last week. There is still alot coming in, but more of it is getting caught as spam and not getting through.

I don’t get it spam has been good the last week in a half and today its terrible, all the spam that was being caught with the same words are now getting through now starting today. Over 30 Spam e-mails in a hour. Why is this. Sick of this crap… When I do coding its intense and the mail alerts just screws me up. DONT GET IT….
Why cant spam assissan be consistent and keepiing blocking the same E-mails it has for the last week in a half???

I am seeing the same thing… Yesterday was the BEST day since I got to Jodohost… today back to normal - MASS spam!

much of the reason mail1 was having problems was spam, it was starting at a certain time.
We are going to be starting some new steps to block spam internally that do not even rely on spam assassin and other scanners, that fail at times, or spammers change some method that allows them to get around.
ckwong, we are researchning how whiltelisting can be integrated to hsphere, as are some other hosts.
Im on actually mail3 and the spam has started bad again today. Not sure about mail-1 spam..
