Has anybody requested any changes to Win5 server?

My sites going haywire,
Runtime errors, pages loading in totally wrong colour formats, banner managment shot to shit, just when i thought it was safe to breathe again.
Blimey guys whatever has happened to that server today, put it back the way it was, it wasnt broke dont fix it!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
Oh and sorry for the post on here, i have a ticket open but not had a responce since i supplied the exact URL (which they said was urgent)
I know my site isnt a money making site, if i was i'd be spitting blood, but it is an animal welfare (Exotics) site and i'd hate to think that animals could be at risk or suffer or that the owners cant get correct advice for there questions coz they get so fed up they cant browse the site in peace without errors.

Just that the default SMTP server for PHP be changed, but that hasn't happened yet and I believe your site uses ASP..
I'm having no problems with ASP on Win5 however.
Your site seems to output some unexpected "c" characters on the main page, and I'm getting a JavaScript error. Most of it is working though, maybe the banner system is just crappy? ;)

nope,
And we wernt getting these errors earlier in the day, plus we are getting page loads in colours that bear no resemblence to what text colours should be,and even variances within text colour of threads this is not a fault at my end. Its just gone totally haywire and is not even consistant!

I can't think of anything a webhost could change that would affect the color of your text on your website.
It's far more likely that the beta of the SOOP portal you're running has messed up.

There was absolutely no change on the server reptilecrazy and we haven't had a single ticket about any problem on Win5

The best I can do for you is switch your site to high isolation mode. IIS will create a separate worker process for you so if there is anything to do with IIS, it would be solved.

Just open a ticket requesitng the same,

I'm not bloody sure of anything anymore to be frank! Isolations, great we're back in the bloody naughty tank then huh, but before you stick us there please fix my bloody site!

isolation means that a separate instance of IIS would run for your site.. better performance and we can see if that solves your issue

bannerrotator.asp is returning "C"
Are you sure there is no coding issue. There would have to be some really serious bug in IIS for tht to happen

Fine Yash tomorrow i will test it locally, frankly i dont have time for this, and im not being paid for it, that asp has not been changed not does it look any different from the fresh install asp that i have local side, that still does not solve the issue of why my Skin SSF's are all over the place and why members are PM'in me saying what the hell is up and stuff is totally shot skin wise?
OK as a test go in using mozilla firebird and look down every top 10 thread u can using blackgrey skin, u will find it will return 3 different cominations to you, now you tell me why? Not logical? and certainly not something i have touched. Now as i said the site is wrong, not my fault as i certainly havnt touched files to do that damage.
please fix it!
As a PS dont go thinking this little female knows nothing, coz as a matter of fact Hubby is in the bloody industry working for Toyota, works with both servers and SQL and at the moment, he's coughin up blood over this!

For anyone that want to test this, the URL is WWW.reptilecrazy.co.uk
use mozilla firebird and scroll down to the bottom and change skin to blackgrey.
For people with IE You'll get run time errors and such like!

Well it happened before didnt it Yash and a re-boot fixed it, you never told me what the problem was then though!

I don't really see any problems when using the Blackgrey skin using Firefox. Just the banner thing seems broken somehow. I don't know what your website is supposed to look like exactly though.

If something works locally that doesn't mean the server is
broken if it doesn't work remotely, so that doesn't necessarily get you anywhere.

I can take a look at the source code if you like, it all sounds rather strange.

Well Blackgrey returns different values(colour highlights etc) in various threads for me using both Firebird and IE, IE returns runtime errors on every page load, And ive reloaded fresh skin images and SSF file, so god only knows. If you view useing Matrix skins then you'll see the floating "c", im presuming thats what Yash means by banner-rotator.asp returning Just "c"s again fresh file uploaded, no go.
I still have a test site loaded on another url, i'm gonna hook the DB to it temporarily sometime tomorrow and see if it throws any light on the subject!

The problem can be reproduced calling http://www.reptilecrazy.co.uk/banner_rotater.asp, as pointed out Yash.

The routine (or an included file) is writing a "c" to output. When a client-side .js writes inline code to output, e.g. "document.x=9;document.y=10", this "c" is concatenated to the first statement ("cdocument.x=9"). This causes an error on page and stops script execution. This way, variables (e.g. x,y), functions, etc, created/modified by the script are undefined/wrong causing unexpected results elsewhere.

See the bug in action: http://www.reptilecrazy.co.uk/banner_rotater.asp?zoneid=1 First the routine writes "c" by mistake. Then it writes the banner HTML code using document.write. The generated statement:

cdocument.write("<div align=\"right\"><a target=\"_blank\"
href=\"<A href="http://www.reptilecrazy.co.uk/banner_id.asp?banner_id=23\"><img">
http://www.reptilecrazy.co.uk/banner_id.asp?banner_id=23\"><img alt=\"Finply\" border=\"0\"
src=\"<A href="http://www.finplycrazy.co.uk/forum/logo_snitz_forums_2000.gif\"></a>
</div">http://www.finplycrazy.co.uk/forum/logo_snitz_forums_2000.gif\"></a></div>");

If you fix banner_rotater.asp (or an include file used by banner_rotater.asp) all problems should disappear.

Please excuse my sorry English

Ive gone through every file connected to that system, and re-uploaded fresh copies, no joy still. I've even gone as far as to remove 2 modifications that i made to the portal yesterday (not connected) just in case there was a conflict, nope u guessed it no joy.
What i fail to understand though is how everything was working fine for a good hour or more after i'd finished then it started. I really cannot see the error as being my end or something I did :(
In all honesty this has happened before with banner system and it was something that Yash had put onto or changed on the server, this is why i'm asking was anything done yesterday, the reply keeps coming back no, but my reply will keep coming back no also.

reptilecrazy, we had done nothing on the server last time this happened. I just restarted the server and that seemed to solve your problem

This time, I've not only restarted the server for you, I moved you to high isolation and ever restarted the MSSQL server incase that may have had anything to do

I ran a test ASP and javascript from your site and both executed fine. infact your forum itselfs tests both javascript and ASP functionality
The whole problem lies in your banner_rotator.asp file. I'm absolutely certain its coding related. I'm not sure why it happened all of a sudden but couldn't an external variable have changed?

Interlink has explained a possible cause very nicely

Yash,
Im sorry but the last time the banner issue happened was after the MSSQL move and we all got fast sites again, people will remember it well as you were fiddleing all day and we all had various restarts, no wonder people are loosing faith, as it seems to be a fact that Jodo will deny doing any wrong then it will occur days later that yes indeedy somebody did something without telling someone else and bingo problem fixed.
When Fireau is less busy i'll get him to look at banner management for me, as i really just cant see it, and it makes no sense to me the WHY of it all.
This will be my last posting on the subject, as frankly i am now that mad that its time to keep my trap shut for fear of being truely rude. :(
